Facilitation ☞ Used goods project

Mission:

Design and facilitate a multi-team, multi-stakeholder product discovery.

Refurbished and second-hand items are gaining value in online shopping. This motivated the OKR initiative to enhance the display of these goods on the idealo platform. I planned, coordinated, and facilitated the product discovery. As a general approach i went with the Tripple Diamond product discovery framework in a row of 2h long, collaborative remote workshops with 8 to 10 participants.

Workshop 1

Alignment

The first step was getting 8 participants to break the ice make sure everyone is on the same page on:

  • Why this project was important

  • Exactly what we wanted to achieve

  • How we wanted to work on it

  • the criteria that defined if we had achieved our goal

Workshop 2, & 3 4

Problem discovery

The second and third workshops where to collect everything we knew, make sure everyone was on the same page with that knowledge, and close knowledge gaps - by identifying and prioritizing important and planning how to find those answers.

The fourth workshop served to close the research phase and share knowledge again.

Workshop 5 & 6

Problem definition

After we had all our research and had clustered our findings, it was time to turn what we found into user problems, and afterwards prioritize which ones we needed to solve - for this we used one of my favorite methods for democratic prioritization: an adaptation of the Magic estimation in agile development.

Workshop 5 & 6

Solution definition

Last but not least we had an ideation session to solve the most pressing found issues and organized these ideas on an impact matrix - these prioritized “ used good to do’s” where given to a development team. My job was done!

Aside from organizing and facilitating workshops & sprints, i also train others and act as a facilitation consultant for my colleagues.

This is something i really enjoy doing.
